About myself...what to say.

I'm a lifelong nerd/geek, or whatever you'd like to call it. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and have lived there my entire life. I love all things nerd/geek, especially sci-fi and gaming.

My interests, in terms of writing for Noise Shark Media, are movies, television, gaming, and music. My first love has always been, and I imagine always will be, music. I grew up in a music family: my granddad was a singer in his teens and early twenties, my dad is a talented guitar player, as are my uncles. I love most genres of music with the exception of country. I enjoy some rap, but not a lot of it. My heart lies with classical rock and alternative. I had the privilege of meeting and becoming friends with Goldy McJohn from Steppenwolf last summer on a plane ride from Philadelphia to Seattle.

My second love are movies, especially Charlie Chaplin and anything Robert Downey Jr. I also love to game, although I don’t always have the time I would like to be able to play more. My favorite games are from the Total War series.

I’m very excited to be writing for Noise Shark. Hopefully I don’t piss off too many of you with my articles, but if so, suck it up and don’t be a sheep shagger.

What I’m Listening To: The Boxer

Before beginning I would like to offer an apology for my absence. I can’t remember if I had mentioned it before, but I have Crohn’s Disease and have been dealing with a flare up over the last couple of months, and have been responding to treatment pretty well. The last few weeks have been more [...]

My Guilty Pleasure: Whistle by Flo-Rida

This weeks guilty pleasure also comes by way of Nof and his amazing wife Jillian. They brought the song to my attention a couple of weeks back and I’ve been on the fence about it. It’s a catchy song, sure, but is it really a guilty pleasure? So, I’ve been doing a lot of commuting lately and have [...]

Only the Good Die Young: A Tribute to Michael Clarke Duncan

As Billy Joel correctly put it, “only the good die young.” Today another one did. Michael Clarke Duncan has a character actor staple for the past three decades. In my opinion, he added significantly to all of his projects, whether it was Michael Bay’s Armageddon as Bear or in his Oscar-nominated [...]

My Guilty Pleasure: PSY “Gangnam Style”

I really don’t even know what to think about this one. My friend, Chris “Nof” Nofziger, sent me this video a few days ago; sadly, Nof left us this morning for Santa Barbara. In a way to pay tribute to one of my dearest friends and most revered colleagues, this weeks guilty pleasure is PSY “Gangam [...]

My Favorite Summer Movies of 2012

I’ve been terrible at making it to the cinema this summer. Along with my constant struggle with Crohn’s Disease and my general lack of leaving my apartment because of treatment, this summer movie seasons has all but gone by without much of a notice from me. And in a lot of ways, this really wasn’t [...]

My Guilty Pleasure: Guy on a Buffalo

A few months ago one of my friends, who has now left us to go experience the wonders of Columbus, OH, showed all of us a series of videos which have remained some of my absolute favorite. Before long, my friends and I spend the word on the series and soon friends outside of the university and our [...]

My Guilty Pleasure: LMFAO Cantina

I’ve truly had a love-hate relationship with LMFAO. As you may have seen in my article about Noah Guthrie, I absolutely loved his acoustic version of “Sexy and I Know It.” My little cousin, for better or worse, loves that song and has the funniest wiggle dance to it ever (he’s three and a half, for [...]

CBS’s Sherlock Holmes: Will It Be Elementary?

As continues to be the trend, another British inspired show will be debuting this fall on American TV. Building on the success of both the Sherlock Holmes films by Guy Ritchie and the BBC series Sherlock, CBS is producing their own take on an updated Holmes, this one being set in New York in the [...]

My Guilty Pleasure: Kendall on Sharecropping

I have some reservations about posting this article. In all ways this video depicts the racism that continues to exist in the U.S. and how much of a tragedy that is. The delivery of the story, however, is completely genius and absolutely hilarious. This weeks guilty pleasure is Kendall on [...]

All Hail Rome! Rome 2 Finally Announced

After months (well, more like years) of speculation, Creative Assembly has announced that the next title in the Total War series will be Rome 2! I could not be more elated by the prospect of in roughly a years time I will be enjoying the most awaited sequel in the Total War series. From everything [...]
